Get ready for Week 2
Hello Scott Lord:
You've made it to week 2! Great work!
We hope you enjoyed the first modules of the course and are as excited to jump into Augustine and the North African Church as we are!
This module studies two areas of early and vibrant Christian growth: Egypt and North Africa. These areas responded to intense Roman persecution by developing a theology of martyrdom. Indeed, both areas became bastions of early Christian theological thinking, with the North African Church producing the most important Christian theologian ever: Augustine of Hippo.
By the end of this week, you will be able to:
· Recognize the importance of Egypt and North Africa for the development of Christianity
· Recognize the names and importance of several early Christian martyrs, and
· Discuss the impact of persecution on North African Christianity
You may have noticed that to enhance the journey, we've included imagery in the video lectures that represent the topics we're presenting. We hope you're enjoying what you're seeing so far!
