We hope you are enjoying Section 3 which features the case involving Khadija Ismayilova, an investigative journalist reporting on the Azerbaijan oil industry.
This week, we received the news on the death of Daphne Caruana Galizia, an investigative journalist from Malta. A harsh critic of the government, she was killed by a car bomb near her home. She wrote about her government's ties to Azerbaijan, and used the release of the Panama Papers to connect her government's leaders to bank accounts in Panama. The censoring of journalists and the Panama Papers are covered in the remaining two weeks.
Next Wednesday, we will release section 4, "Press Freedom, Censorship, and Surveillance." In the meantime we hope you will continue to work through content and quizzes of the first three weeks of the course and that you will join or start the conversation on the discussion forum.
